Preparing for Year Six
Building Health, Opportunity, and Impact in Quispicanchi
we are just one week away from the start of the sixth year of programs and initiatives of the Quispicanchi Project. This time of year is always filled with energy and preparation as our team gathers to plan for the months ahead and ensure that our work continues to meet the needs of the children and communities we serve.
Recently, our team in Quispicanchi came together for our annual planning sessions. These gatherings are an important moment to reflect on our mission, review what we’ve learned from the past year, and prepare the programs that will guide our work in the year ahead.
Students at the Center of Our Mission
At the heart of everything we do are the more than 200 students we serve each year at Virgen del Rosario School in Sullumayo, I.E. 50904 in Mujucancha, and CEBE San Antonio, a special needs school. For many of these students, our programs address critical nutritional and health needs, helping ensure they have the foundation they need to learn, grow, and thrive in school.
These initiatives remain the cornerstone of our work and the starting point for our planning each year.
Planning Programs That Create Lasting Impact
Our planning process begins by working closely with school leaders, families, and community partners to better understand the challenges students face. Through needs assessments and ongoing community conversations, we seek to ensure that the programs we develop respond to real needs in meaningful ways.
From there, we use a logic model approach to program planning. We begin by identifying the long-term impact we hope to achieve—healthier students, stronger learning environments, and greater opportunity for children in the region. We then define the results needed to move toward that vision, outline the activities required to reach those results, and identify the resources necessary to carry out the work.
An important part of this effort is strengthening the systems we use to collect data, track progress, and measure impact throughout the year. These tools help us learn, adapt, and ensure that our programs continue to make a real difference in the lives of the students we serve.
Much of the funding that makes this work possible comes from our generous community of supporters—especially our donor base in the United States—whose commitment allows our local team in Quispicanchi to carry out these initiatives year after year.
As we prepare to begin our sixth year, our team remains focused on building programs that are thoughtful, responsive, and capable of creating meaningful and measurable change for the children and communities we serve.
