Hi!!!!
My name is Marita Muller and I am a sophomore at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. I am a pre-nursing student and I am looking forward to starting nursing school this upcoming fall, in hopes of working in pediatrics! I grew up in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and was raised by parents who taught me the importance of serving others and appreciating the different perspectives the world has to offer. I greatly admire these values and I strive to embrace them in my life at school away from home.
My family participated in many acts of service as I grew up. As I traversed through high school I realized that It was important to me that I had experience abroad and that I wanted to go on a service trip.
I chose a Jesuit University because of how they embrace the differences of people and find joy in the unity of those differences. The Jesuit community also greatly values service and reflection. I applied to be a part of this experience because serving others is close to my heart, I find a sense of peace and joy when I am helping others. Kindness is infectious and we can all learn from each other.
I am so excited to begin this journey with the Quispicanchi Project because it gives me the opportunity to experience another culture and grow in myself through and with the people that I meet. I am excited to witness communal growth and grow in my own understanding of the world and the people in it. More importantly it provides me with the opportunity to accompany others, specifically children. I have always had a special connection with kids and I am thankful that I can use these skills this summer.
I am grateful for all the experiences my life has given me and the support I have received from those close to me as I have grown. I have been blessed with an amazing community that has taught me the importance of giving time, compassion, and love. These are all important and impactful things to give but right now I am encouraging you to donate to the Quispicanchi project. Your contribution will not only go towards helping me along this journey but a portion of your gift will also go directly to the communities I will be serving. My fundraising goal is $3600, I and I am very thankful for whatever you feel called to donate.
Thanks!
Marita
