Six Years Strong

Celebrating partnership, progress, and a new year at Virgen del Rosario School

The Quispicanchi Project proudly marked the beginning of its sixth year of programming in Sullumayo with a heartfelt and vibrant visit to the Virgen del Rosario School. Members of our Senior Leadership Team, alongside our dedicated in-country staff, were warmly welcomed by students, faculty, and community members in a celebration that highlighted the strength and impact of our ongoing partnership.

The day began with moving presentations of gratitude from all three levels of the school—Inicial (Pre-K through Kindergarten), Primary, and Secondary. Each group shared their appreciation in unique and meaningful ways, reflecting the deep connection that has grown between the school community and the Quispicanchi Project over the years.

A particularly memorable moment came when primary school students performed an original song and dance created especially to thank the Quispicanchi Project for its continued support. Their performance was followed by a lively and colorful presentation from the faculty, who shared a traditional Carnaval Cusco dance, celebrating local culture and community spirit.

In a touching gesture, members of our Senior Leadership Team and in-country staff were presented with commemorative statuettes. These tokens of appreciation recognized the enduring partnership and the sustained investment in the health, education, and well-being of the students and faculty at Virgen del Rosario.

As we look ahead to the year, the Quispicanchi Project remains deeply committed to supporting the school through a range of impactful initiatives. Our programs will continue to include support for the school’s lunch program, delivery of health education and basic health services, and the launch of our third annual dental campaign. In addition, we will further strengthen food security and sustainability efforts through support for the school’s chicken coop program and greenhouses.

We are also proud to continue our collaboration with the Wayra Associations, a Jesuit-sponsored group of social workers dedicated to advancing human rights and family well-being. Together, we will work to promote human rights education, combat human trafficking, provide menstrual and reproductive health education, and support families in reducing violence within the home.

This celebration was not only a reflection of what has been achieved, but also a powerful reminder of what is possible through partnership, trust, and shared purpose. We are excited for the year ahead and remain steadfast in our commitment to the children, families, and educators of Sullumayo. Together, we will continue working to ensure that every child in the community has access to the resources, education, and opportunities they need to realize their dreams.
